Historical References and Man’s Awareness of the Celestial, Etheric Records

The Akashic Records are collections of every imprint that each thought, event, action, and deed has embedded through energy into the “akasha”, which translates to soniferous ether or aether in Sanskrit language. The “akasha” also refers to perpetually boundless space. Because of the information that the Akashic Records are believed to contain; these chronicles can be perceived as the collective histories of all beings that have ever existed—which are far more comprehensive, detailed, and holistic than any personal record in this worldly realm, or any historical account, can ever be. They can be also be validly perceived as vast and omniscient records, which accurately contain even the most minute details of the entire human existence.

All humans contribute to the contents of the etheric repository; in the same way that all humans can also access the Records because of our nature as spiritual entities. Once accessed, each of us can see visions of our past along with the probable future events that will unfold in our lives. Because we are currently constrained within the physical realm, it is normal for many of us to encounter difficulties in accessing the Akashic Records-- yet this does not mean that we cannot do so.

Various cultures, peoples, civilizations, and other references from the past have indicated a keen awareness and belief in the existence of the Akashic Records—some of which also claimed to have successfully gained access to them.

A History Review: Known beliefs and references to the Akashic Records

According to believers, there have been various human records, spanning several centuries, which indicate the awareness of people regarding the existence of Akashic Records. Many also claim that several ancient civilizations have not only believed in the Akashic Records, but have also been able to use them.

The Egyptians, Persians, Chinese, Druids, Greeks, Indians, Tibetans, Chaldeans, Christians, Mayans, and Hebrews are some of the known peoples that have been acquainted with the concept that underlie the Akashic Records. However, the term “Akashic Records” was only formally coined because of the Theosophy movement during the 19th century. In more recent times, skeptics and non-believers are inclined to believe that the underlying concept of the Akashic Records has been indiscriminately attributed to a variety of religious movements and personalities. Furthermore, the bulk of the scientific community rejects the idea, precisely because the Akashic Records have yet to yield substantial and verifiable physical evidence.

In the past, the more commonly known labels used to refer to the Akashic Records were “The Book of Life”, or merely the heavenly library.

1. The earliest records that indicate references and awareness of Akashic Records can be traced back to ancient times. Peoples such as Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Semitics reportedly believed in the existence of celestial tablets. These tablets were said to contain information on everything that has transpired in the physical world. Apart from mere “physical” information, the said celestial tablets were also believed to contain chronicles of spiritual data.

2. In Hinduism, both the Vedas and the Sanskrit language itself were highly believed to have directly been formed from, and with, the Akasha.

3. The Bible mentions the Akashic Records, albeit using the label “Book of Life”; and Judeo-Christian beliefs associated the Book of Life with an eschatological concept—the Day of Judgment. The first time that the term was mentioned can be located in the Book of Exodus, particularly within the tale that recounts how Israelites have become disloyal to God by worshipping the Golden Calf. Another reference can be located in the Book of Psalms, wherein Kind David said that details about his life have already been recorded or written down by God. The details include both the good and bad deeds he has committed in his life.

4. Sages from the Himalayas believed that each and every soul has the whole of its existence inscribed within a record or book; and that with proper attunement, everyone can access and read it.

5. In China, a seer called Tajao explored and investigated several topics that are embedded in the Akashic Records. Furthermore, a gentleman called Sujujin reportedly only needed to acquire any person’s first name for everything else related to the Akashic Records to fall into place: Sujujin will be able to gain entry and read the Akashic Records and impart the person’s history.

6. For Egyptians from the ancient times, people who successfully gained access to the Akashic Records were highly esteemed in their society, particularly within the majestic context. Their successful means of tapping into the Records catapulted their roles as sacred advisers to the Pharaohs—on a variety of topics, ranging from the mundane trivialities of everyday life to the interpretation of dreams.

7. Several believers say that during the era of Druids from Wales and England, the Druids were able to successfully gain entry into the Celestial Hall and read the Akashic Chronicles.

8. Surat Shabda Yoga cosmology also has claims regarding where the Akashic Records can be found—in the Trikuti’s causal plane.

9. Nostradamus—the controversial man who was believed to have been able to prophesy future events, and particularly the end of the world— also claimed that he successfully accessed the Akashic Records through employing methods that were extracted from Greek oracles, the Kabbalah, and also from Sufi and Christian mysticism.

10. Other popular individuals who said that they accessed, read, and employed the information found within the Records are Annie Besant, Max Heindel, Edgar Cayce, George Hunt Williamson, Dion Fortune, Charles Webster Leadbeater, and Rudolf Steiner.

The need to break free from “physical trappings”

The Akashic Records do not exist in the physical world or plane; but rather, it has been existing in the spiritual or ethereal plane. Because all of us are matter-of-factly physical entities that are found in the physical realm; we are also simultaneously trapped within the physical world, in a deeper sense, because our familiarity with merely physical realities have hindered us from seeing further and beyond.

Our day-to-day conditioning as physical entities have clouded our grasp of our true nature—that we are also spiritual entities that have ultimately come from the Divine. Our nature as spirits and the spiritual realities, despite their existence and truth, already seem too foreign or fantastical for many of us to believe and accept.

Therefore, for the uninitiated, the Akashic Records may prove to be difficult to perceive or believe. However, by divine birthright as spiritual entities: All of us can.
